Rep. Cunningham Votes to Reopen Government and Provide Emergency Disaster Relief Funding to Victims of Natural Disasters
Washington – Today, Congressman Joe Cunningham voted on legislation that would reopen the government and provide $12.14 billion in critical emergency disaster relief funding to Americans affected by recent hurricanes, typhoons, wildfires, and other natural disasters.
“I am proud to have voted today to reopen the government and give the people of the Lowcountry the hurricane and flooding relief they need,” said Congressman Joe Cunningham. “There is still much rebuilding that needs to be done in the wake of Hurricanes Florence and Michael to help our community recover. One of the consequences of climate change is an increase in extreme weather events like these. Going forward, we must invest in the technology and infrastructure that will make the Lowcountry more resilient and mitigate damage caused by future national disasters.”
