Press Release

In response to reports that the Trump Administration had called back Bureau of Ocean Energy Management [BOEM] workers to continue processing offshore seismic testing leases in the Atlantic, Cunningham Spokesperson Rebecca Drago released the following statement:

“Congressman Cunningham remains steadfast in his opposition to offshore drilling and oil and gas exploration off South Carolina’s coast. Just last week he introduced the Coastal Economies Protection Act, a bill that would place a ten-year moratorium on offshore drilling and seismic airgun blasting. Congressman Cunningham considers any step towards offshore drilling to be a step in the wrong direction, especially during the longest government shutdown in American history. The first priority of this Administration should be re-opening the government, not pursuing dangerous and unwanted seismic airgun blasting.”
